All public transport companies in the region of South Moravia (including also urban public transport within large urban areas) are organized under the “Integrated Public Transport System in the South Moravian region” (abbr. IDS JMK). The public company KORDIS JMK is the integrator and organizer of public transport covering the South Moravian Region and the City of Brno (1,2 mil. residents). The company KORDIS JMK is owned by the Region (51%) and City of Brno (49%). It is responsible for activities related to public transport organizing, common fare system, technical issues, marketing, timetables, better connections, tendering processes as well as the direct managing of the system. The integrated transport system IDS JMK covers all public transport modes – national and regional passenger trains, regional buses, city buses, trolleybuses and trams.


Managing centre of regional public transport based on GNSS for vehicle tracking

Thanks to Global Navigation Satellite Systems, passengers always catch the bus when changing the connection from trains! Real time positions of public transport vehicles enable smooth management of transit nodes operation.

SprinterThe real time positioning based at the present on GPS and in the future on EGNSS plays a very important role in the public transport operating in the South Moravian Region. Both all city public transport vehicles and all regional buses (in total more than 1200 vehicles) are equipped with the positioning system and direct connection to the Managing centre. In the rail transport every new train must be equipped with similar positioning system and the data of train positions are sent to the Managing centre as well.

ELPyThe data are used for many purposes – the most important one is the ensuring the connections between single lines passing the same transit node. The system automatically sends instructions to the drivers and /or train managing centre based on the real positions and counted delays with a specified waiting times for delayed vehicles. The real time positions are also used for passenger information systems – smart stops, mobile phone applications, etc.
